What is J-2 Visa

The J-2 Visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by a consular official at a U.S. embassy or consulate. It is specifically intended for the spouses and dependents (unmarried children under the age of 21) of J-1 exchange visitors. This visa allows them to accompany or later join the J-1 holder in the United States

Who qualifies?

Qualification for a J-2 Visa is determined by the particular exchange program provided to the J-1 non-immigrant by an endorsing organization. J-2 Visas are not allowed for exchange categories such as au pair, camp counselor, secondary school student, and summer work travel. Furthermore, while certain categories permit spouses and/or dependents to accompany a J-1 Visa holder, particular programs do not
